About the role

GMW are looking for an individual to take ownership and management of our Venture Impact space, an integral part to the success of GMW to date. You will be working with startups and entrepreneurs in the Muslim ecosystem to bring new opportunities for them to prepare and go to market. 

The Head of Venture Impact will lead the strategic planning, execution, and growth of our social impact awards programs, including the Continuum Spark Award, a $250,000 prize designed to find the best in Muslim talent.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in impact development, social responsibility, or related fields.

  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successful program delivery.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Budget management and financial acumen.

  • Familiarity with the startup environment and VC space desirable.

  • If the applicant has built their own startup would be an advantage.

The Person

You will be empowered to deliver the 2024 Continuum Spark Award, work closely with the CSO to develop the GMW Venture Studio, as well as source new opportunities that will support creating world class products from value aligned individuals. 

The individual will need to have a startup mindset, work across various disciplines in a small but experienced and vibrant team. There will be international travel involved and is necessary in developing the key relationships across stakeholders. We’re looking for enterprising individuals, who are happy working in an agile environment and can contribute ideas to the growth of GMW. 

This role is fully remote and you can be located anywhere in the world (with a great internet connection), however you will need to crossover at least six hours per day with the UAE timezone. You will report directly into the Director of GMW. 

Role Overview

The Head of Venture Impact will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our organization's key partnerships and delivering a successful 2024 Continuum Spark Award . The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can conceptualize, plan, and execute a multidisciplinary programme that aligns with the GMW goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a successful 2024 Continuum Spark Award

    • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the Continuum Spark Award, delivering clear reporting and communication at each stage of the award process

    • Manage the marketing, communications, PR and other outreach activities to source the best applications for the 2024 Continuum Spark Award

    • Implement the award scorecard to screen and filter applications. Work with the experienced closed group of GMW Impact Angels to determine which ideas proceed to the next stage

    • Work with the Head of Relationship Programming to plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of events where the Continuum Spark Award will be showcased throughout the year.

  • Venture Impact Strategic Planning

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the delivery of further social impact awards, aligning with the organization's mission and values.

    • Identify and assess new opportunities to expand our impact and contribute to positive societal change.

    • Work towards the long-term sustainability of impact programs by developing strategies to secure funding, sponsorships, and partnerships

    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and impact of social impact awards programs.

    • Regularly assess and report on the effectiveness of programs, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

  • Development of the GMW Venture Studio

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including service providers, potential funding sources and talent pool.

    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes and enhance program efficiency.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within GMW and LaunchGood to ensure seamless event logistics and execution when needed.

Salary range of $55,000 to $70,000 depending on experience
