Spaces to converse

Imagine days filled with brilliant minds, led by Islamic values, coming together to collaborate and innovate.

By organizing a GMWx event, you can create a unique gathering in your community that will unleash new ideas, inspire and inform. A GMWx event is a local gathering which can take a variety of formats, from co-working spaces to a group activity, like a day out hiking.

GMWx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. To enable and empower you, the GMW team are on hand to support you with curating your programme and supporting your event.

Ideas

Here are some of the formats you could explore when curating your GMWx programme. If you have another idea, feel free to suggest it to the GMW team

  • Take a space at your local co-working campus or create your own. Create a space for people to work in a new collaborative environment

  • Find an inspiring Airbnb in your local area and create an informal space to spark ideas. Invite a few inspiring storytellers and share insights and journeys.

  • Do you have a collection of storytellers you would love to share with the world? A conference set-up can be a valuable way to ignite conversations.

  • Ditch the desks and head into the outdoors. Organise an overnight hike or an day exploring a new skill through group-based activities

  • Have a challenge you want to address or a skill you would like to share? Create a space to share skills through a workshop or create a hackathon to find solutions to todays challenges.

  • Organise your tribe to help a local cause in your community. Use the value of time to offer great causes in-person help and support, whilst building spaces for people to converse

  • GMWx events: A cashflow runway to help you begin curating an incredible 2 or 3 day paid-for-event

  • GMW Socials: A $500 grant to create an exceptional one-day free-to-attend event

  • GMW swag sent to your event to give out to attendees

  • Marketing support to amplify your event to the GMW community and beyond

  • Infrastructure to accept payments for event passes

Event Criteria

Here are a few expectations required from your event

  • Must be a paid-for event or experience by attendees with a minimum ticket price of $49. Your event needs to exemplify value and sustainability.

  • The event can be anywhere from 1 to 3 days in length

  • Your event has to align with the GMW culture of creating a space for collaboration and innovation.

  • All costs must be accounted for and reported to GMW

  1. Complete the form detailing your initial expression of interest

  2. One of the GMW team will be in touch to schedule a call to discuss your idea further

  3. Subject to approval by the GMW team, an agreement of understanding will be provided before planning begins.

What GMWx is not…

  • A GMWx event isn’t used to sell something.

  • A GMWx event is not organized by or for special-interest political or commercial groups.

  • A GMWx event cannot be directly used to raise money either commercially or for a charity.

  • A GMWx event cannot partner with another conference or event. It CAN have co-sponsors sourced by event organisers.

  • A GMWx event is not focused solely on entrepreneurship, business or technology. Diversity of topics is welcomed!
